Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's WellMed division in Texas is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff, perform specimen collection, administer non-intravenous medications, and help manage patient flow. Qualifications

• Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• TB screening and immunity to MMR, Varicella and other vaccines as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within the Medical Assistant scope, operates diagnostic equipment and collects specimens.
• Performs quality control checks on equipment.
• Prepares and sterilizes medical equipment.
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and delivers courteous care.
• Organizes exam rooms, stocks and cleans, and sterilizes instruments.
• Follows infection control standards and SDO.
• Supports and completes related duties as assigned.
