Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months clinical classroom.
• Graduate from BILH Primary Care Clinical Assistant Training program preferred, or EMT Basic License preferred, or Phlebotomy Certificate preferred or, other healthcare training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to patient, practice, and organizational goals through relationship development and care team coordination.
• Assists patient during visits: manages flow, informs about delays, updates medication and allergy lists, reviews PHQ-9, and liaises between patient and staff.
• Communicates clearly with patient and team: hand-offs to provider in exam room.
• Performs medical assisting duties under supervision: obtain vitals, EKGs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, administer vaccines (if MA trained), assist during routine procedures.
• Leads conversations to meet population health goals, conducts outreach and basic health coaching, monitors practice activity.
• Monitors, orders, and maintains medical equipment and supplies; ensures clean, sterilized, and within expiration dates.
• Uses EHR to queue prescriptions, enter orders, and document visit tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests, verifies insurance, and handles prior authorizations and referrals.
• Identifies OSHA compliance issues and ensures PHI is used appropriately.
