Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality, direct patient care within a team-based Primary Care setting at Mt. Auburn.

The role supports smooth administrative and clinical operations while honoring diverse backgrounds and patient beliefs. Responsibilities include ensuring efficient patient flow, updating records, assisting during visits, performing MA duties (vitals, EKGs, immunizations), and participating in population health outreach under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Science preferred.
• MA cert or CNA/EMT/Phlebotomy cert preferred.
• 0–1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers.

Responsibilities

• Develop empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to contribute to patient care.
• Assist patient during visits; manage flow and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate clearly with patient and team; provide hand-offs to provider.
• Perform medical assisting duties under supervision (vital signs, phlebotomy, immunizations, EKGs).
• Lead population health outreach and health coaching to meet goals.
• Monitor and maintain medical equipment; ensure sterility and proper storage.
• Queue prescriptions in EHR and document tasks for billing.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and verify insurance, referrals, and authorizations.
• Identify OSHA issues and ensure PHI handling and patient safety.
