Job summary

The Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. (OSUP) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care in outpatient settings across our numerous locations. You will assist clinicians, perform routine exams, collect samples, and help with procedures following clinical protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus one of the following credentials or experiences.
• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program.
• Minimum of 1 year medical assisting experience.
• Military Medic training.
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training.
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures; assist with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum and perform routine laboratory tests.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant Program diploma

Minimum 1 year medical assisting experience

Military Medic training

EMT-P (Paramedic) training

1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
