Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to support providers in delivering high-quality patient care. You will welcome patients, gather histories, assist with exams, and manage testing and specimens in a fast-paced team.

The role requires completing an MA program/externship or EMT/Paramedic training, CPR certification, and 0–1 year of clinical experience (or equivalent). Opportunities for growth and patient-centered care define this team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of accredited/approved MA program and MA externship; MA internship; EMT program; Paramedic program; or Certified Athletic Trainer.
• If credentialed, maintains current MA Re-Certification CEUs.
• MA-Non-Credentialed I: MA eligible to attain Medical Assistant Certification is desired, or EMT with current/active license in the State of Michigan, or Paramedic following successful completion of the National Registry Paramedic Exam and/or holds a current/active license in the State of Michigan.
• Valid CPR certification.
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 0-1 year previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years' clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and prepare patients for appointments.
• Collect and document patient histories, vital signs, and health information.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, testing, and specimen collection.
• Administer medications and perform diagnostic testing as directed.
• Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients.
• Provide patient and family education to support better health outcomes.
• Coordinate care and serve as a liaison between patients and providers.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and disease management programs.
