Job summary

Horizon House in Seattle seeks a compassionate Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join our Assisted Living team. You will assist residents with medications under RN Delegator direction, ensuring accuracy and safety in all medication processes.

The ideal candidate holds WA NAC with at least six months of experience, is fluent in English, and has EMR experience, CPR/First Aid, and required WA trainings. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Active WA State NAC with minimum six months work experience and OBRA Registry.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of Nurse Delegation Core Training and a focus on Diabetes Management.
• Must read/write and communicate in English; proficient with computers.
• EMR experience is required; CPR and First Aid certification due within 30 days of hire.
• Food Handler’s permit due within 14 days of hire.
• Must be available to work on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications per physician orders, policies and regulations.
• Document medication administration, effects, and side effects.
• Protect residents’ rights and confidentiality in all medication tasks.
• Transcribe orders into the MAR in the EMR within scope of practice.
• Maintain secure storage and accountability for all medications, including controlled substances.
• Report changes in resident condition to nursing staff in a timely manner.
• Communicate with prescribers, pharmacists, families and care team about status and changes.
• Order new and renewal medications as needed.
• Dispose of medications on discharge or expiration per law.
• Keep medication areas clean and organized; follow infection control procedures.
• Follow PPE and safety protocols and participate in drills.
• Assist with CNA duties as assigned.
