Job summary

Open Door Mission in Omaha, NE is seeking a Kitchen Associate to support daily food service for residents and guests. You will assist with meal preparation, food donations, kitchen cleanup, and volunteer coordination under the guidance of the Cook and Hospitality Director.

Qualifications

• Visible relationship with Christ and regular church attendance.
• Ability to share the Gospel when opportunities arise.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Training in Food Service.
• Experience in kitchen food preparation, menu preparation, and cooking.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate kitchen volunteers with Volunteer Services and ensure procedures are followed.
• Load/unload trucks with food donations and access food from the warehouse.
• Provide crisis counseling, problem-solving, and de-escalation to staff, clients, and volunteers.
• Assist Cook and Hospitality Director with daily tasks, meal prep, and basic cooking.
• Direct volunteers and program students in the kitchen.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and upkeep daily.
• Share the Gospel or pray with others when opportunities arise.
