Job summary

UM Health-Sparrow in Lansing, MI seeks a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) to support nursing staff in providing baseline patient care within a home hospice setting. The CNA will work under the supervision of an RN to deliver hygienic, feeding and positioning assistance, and perform routine procedures as outlined in the plan of care.

The ideal candidate has valid Michigan CNA credentials, BLS certification, reliable transportation, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Current State of Michigan Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) required for PCTs hired after 02/1/2011.
• Active American Heart Association BLS Certification upon hire.
• Valid Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.
• High school diploma, GED or completion of 12 grades.
• Computer literate; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, assists with basic nursing care such as hygiene, feeding, positioning, turning and transferring.
• Performs procedures like vital signs, catheter care, skin care as outlined in the plan of care.
• Reports pertinent patient information to the RN and communicates changes in patient condition.
• Documents care given and patient response in the patient record.
• Collaborates with Hospice team to insure quality patient care and a collaborative work environment.
• Participates in Hospice fund raising activities and completes mandatory in-services.
