Job summary

Luminary Hospice in Dallas seeks a dedicated hospice aide to join our interdisciplinary team. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will support patients with personal care and comfort, observe needs, and document care delivered in their homes.

Candidates must have a state-certified CNA/STNA, CPR, and complete required training; must be at least 18, with reliable references and a patient‑centered approach.

Qualifications

• Active STNA or CNA certification in the state performing duties.
• Meets the state's training requirements.
• Minimum 75 classroom hours and 16 hours of supervised practical training.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Comfort with hospice philosophy and terminally ill care.
• Reliable references from previous employers.
• Self-directed with ability to work with little supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill and caregiver support.
• CPR certification maintained.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal care tasks and promptly attend to patient requests.
• Provide respectful communication with patients and families.
• Ensure safety during care and proper use of equipment.
• Assist with baths, dressing, meals, and mobility as assigned.
• Assist with medication reminders as allowed by state regulations.
• Keep patient living area clean and orderly.
• Document observations and report changes to the Case Manager.
• Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
