Job summary

Oasis Hospice And Palliative Care Inc. is seeking a hospice aide to provide compassionate home-based care. You will perform personal care, monitor vitals, assist with meals and mobility, and support families. The role emphasizes confidentiality, safety, and adherence to care standards.

Requirements include 18+ years old, state training, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. The position requires excellent communication and the ability to work with minimal supervision in home settings.

Qualifications

• Meets the training requirements of the State.
• 75 hours classroom and supervised practical training completed; 16 hours of classroom prior to 16 hours of practical training.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Understands hospice philosophy and provides specialized end-of-life care.
• Satisfactory references from previous employers.
• Self-directed with minimal supervision; handles death/dying with calmness.
• Demonstrates empathy for ill, injured, frail individuals.
• Maintain CPR certification.
• Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
• Licensed driver with a valid auto insurance and good vehicle condition.
• Completes probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal care tasks as assigned and respond promptly to patient requests.
• Provide positive communication with patients and families, respecting confidentiality.
• Ensure safety and proper use of equipment.
• Assist with bathing, hygiene, and changing bed linens.
• Assist with dressing and undressing.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and shopping as needed.
• Assist with feeding.
• Record vital signs when ordered and maintain competency.
• Care for and prevent skin breakdown; monitor condition.
• Assess and report patient condition to Case Manager.
• Assist in ambulation and transfers as directed.
• Provide ROM and positioning as instructed.
• Assist with self-administered medications as allowed by state rules.
• Assist with bedpans and urinals; light laundry as needed.
• Support respite for patient/family when on-site.
• Keep living area clean and orderly.
• Follow documentation and care procedures; maintain professional conduct.
• Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
• Respect patient and family preferences and needs.
