Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a hospice aide for full-time daytime shifts, covering Passaic/Bergen, Essex/Union, and Hudson counties. The role focuses on providing compassionate home-based care, personal support, and daily living assistance to patients in their homes.

Responsibilities include personal care, meal preparation, and documenting patient status, with safety and RN-guided care plans. Eligible candidates hold CNA certification, CPR, a valid driver’s license, and CNA experience within the last two

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current state certification as a nurse assistant.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of personal and supportive care such as ambulation, transferring, positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status and reports to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follows written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the care plan.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.
