Job summary

Affinity Hospice Management LLC is seeking a dedicated Hospice Aide to support patient care under RN supervision in the Washington, DC area. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, feeding, safety, and documentation of observations per the plan of care.

Qualified candidates will have CNA certification, CPR, food handlers, High school diploma or GED, and prior hospice or long-term care experience is preferred. Reliable transportation and basic EMR skills recommended.

Qualifications

• Completion of state approved CNA course or equivalent training.
• NAC Certification.
• CPR certification (hands-on)
• Food handlers permit
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Hospice philosophy understanding and comfort with terminally ill care.
• 1 year of hospice/long-term care experience preferred
• Basic computer skills to document in EMR.
• 18+ years of age
• Licensed driver with insured vehicle

Responsibilities

• Perform personal care duties as assigned.
• Communicate with patient and family with empathy and confidentiality.
• Ensure patient safety and proper use of equipment.
• Provide baths, oral hygiene, hair care, and change bed linens.
• Assist with dressing and undressing.
• Assist with feeding and avoid homemade foods.
• Monitor skin integrity and report concerns.
• Report pain or changes to RN Case Manager.
• Assist in ambulation and range of motion as directed.
• Provide transfers/positioning and light homemaker tasks.
• Assist with self-administered medications as allowed.
• Offer bedpans/urinals and light housekeeping.
• Attend to documentation and care procedures as required.
• Provide respite for patient/family when on-site.
• Keep living area clean and orderly.
• Participate in QA/PI activities.
• Respect patient/family environment and needs.
• Report neglect or abuse as required by law.
