Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Funeral Services Assistant in Port Arthur, TX, to provide clerical and administrative support for funeral operations and assist with services and visitations. The role involves welcoming families, coordinating logistics, and performing office duties with compassion and professionalism.

The position requires a high school diploma, customer service experience, and the ability to learn MS Office and database systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos and keepsakes; ensure proper care and storage.
• Prepare documents related to services, cremations, maintenance as directed by management.
• Assist with respectful preparation of remains, including dressing and lifting, or operation of crematory as permitted by law and company policy.
• Perform office duties such as answering phones, operating fax, computer, and multi-line phone system; use debit card machine, typewriter, postage meter and scale, stereo/video system.
• Run errands for floral delivery, supplies, documents, etc.
• Serve as an usher and may park cars or perform transportation as required; drive funeral home vehicles as needed.
• Ensure refreshments are available where allowed by law.
• Assist with visitations, memorial and funeral services including chapel setup and delivery of family items and flowers.
• Greet and assist client families entering the office for information and assistance.
• Accommodate family needs during a service or visitation.
• May wash and clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required.
