Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families in a professional and compassionate manner, ensuring a positive first impression.
• Registers patients for emergency services, obtaining all required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verifies patient identification and insurance details, making necessary updates to patient records as needed.
• Obtains patient’s or family member’s signature on consent forms, explaining each before signing.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility, ensuring information is captured for billing.
• Collects co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Documents properly if the patient cannot sign and notes nursing sign-off when applicable.
• Verifies insurance and codes to ensure prompt payment.
• Compiles paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Places armband on each patient for identification throughout stay.
• Notifies department or physicians of patient arrival and follows up if waiting occurs.
• Maintains communication during emergency codes and alerts the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
