Job summary
NYU Langone Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Cobble Hill ED on day shift. You will assist nurses, handle basic procedures, and help keep the unit safe and comfortable for patients and families.
The ideal candidate has a PCT or CNA background, BLS/CPR certification, and is willing to complete the online PCT program within 3 months. Responsibilities include data collection for quality improvement and participation in patient admissions and discharges.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of a PCT program or CNA with EKG/Phlebotomy courses.
- PCT certification eligible or NHA certification with hospital experience.
- BLS/CPR certification required on entry.
- Must complete PCT online program within 3 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Assist nurse with patient care tasks and safety of supplies.
- Support unit in data collection for Quality Improvement programs.
- Assist with admissions, transfers and discharge procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy, fingersticks for glucose, and ECGs as assigned.
- Maintain infection prevention standards and unit cleanliness.
- Provide responsive communication with patients, families and staff.
