Job summary

NYU Langone Health in Brooklyn's Cobble Hill ED is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the day shift (35 hours). The role supports the licensed nursing staff by performing assigned patient care tasks, ensuring safe and compassionate care, and helping maintain supplies, equipment, and the patient environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with nurses, exhibit NYU Langone's core values, and participate in unit safety, data collection for quality programs, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a PCT program w/ at least 6 months hospital experience OR CNA graduate plus course in EKG & Phlebotomy with PCT certification eligible and at least 6 months hospital experience.
• PCT Certification through NHA w/ at least 6 months hospital experience
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required upon entry to the position.
• Must complete PCT online program within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the care of patients and families under the supervision of a nurse.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of the unit and patient areas.
• Assists with data collection for quality measures and improvement programs.
• Supports admission, transfer and discharge procedures as assigned.
• Demonstrates infection prevention and control standards.
• Communicates with patients, families, and staff in a respectful, caring manner.
• Assists in patient transport, specimen delivery and equipment handling.
• Responds to patient requests promptly and reports needs to the nurse.
