Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to provide compassionate, hands-on support in the Emergency Department. You will assist with ADLs, monitor patients for safety, document observations, and communicate changes to the clinical team.

Role requires a high school diploma or GED and a BLS certification within 90 days. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, dignified care environment for patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate assistance and support to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and personal care needs.
• Maintain awareness of patient behavior and environmental safety during behavioral health crises.
• Observe, monitor, and document changes in mood, behavior, and condition.
• Obtain and document vital signs and other observations as directed by the clinical team.
• Communicate significant changes to clinical staff promptly.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, social workers, and security as part of the care team.
• Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow privacy policies.
