Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to support patients in the Emergency Department, assisting with ADLs, observations, vital signs, and safety in collaboration with the care team.

You'll use AVADE de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed communication to maintain a therapeutic environment, while documenting care, protecting confidentiality, and accompanying patients through their ED stay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
• Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, emergency services, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate assistance to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Monitor patient behavior and environmental safety, especially during behavioral health crises.
• Observe, document changes in mood, behavior, and condition; report significant changes promptly.
• Obtain and record vital signs and other observations as directed by the care team.
