Job summary

Urban Resource Institute seeks a Residential Specialist for Domestic Violence Programs in New York, NY. The role focuses on hotline intake, resident orientation, admissions, and ongoing support within a 24/7 residential setting.

The incumbent will assist with activities, childcare, transportation to services, and on-site events while maintaining confidential records and safety logs. Strong communication, DV knowledge, and flexibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have experience delivering human services to adults and children, preferably in a residential setting.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to domestic violence within disenfranchised communities including LGBTQ+ individuals.
• Computer-literate and proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond to hotline interviews and present to Administration for approval.
• Provide warm, compassionate welcome to new residents.
• Complete admissions paperwork and provide initial orientation.
• Conduct recreational activities and accompany residents on field trips.
• Provide childcare and engage with residents.
• Escort residents to services outside the facility; assist with referrals.
• Provide administrative support and office coverage.
• Distribute donations and maintain logs of visitors and incidents.
• Maintain safety through routine rounds and crisis response as needed.
• Prepare shift summaries and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Conduct support groups and ensure therapeutic availability.
