Job summary

WellLife Network is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help New Yorkers with developmental disabilities live independently in their homes and communities. You will provide hands-on care, advocacy, and support to promote goals and quality of life.

The role involves personal care, medication support, mobility assistance, behavioral guidance, and collaboration with a care team. A High School Diploma is required; fluent English and patient, compassionate approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Fluent English for client communication is required.
• Patience, compassion, and dedication to empowering others.
• Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals.
• Assist with daily living activities and meal preparation.
• Support mobility and use of mobility aids, ensuring safety in environments.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and maintain timely records in electronic systems.
• Plan and participate in recreational and social activities to foster belonging.
• Assist with communication tools or techniques to help individuals express themselves.
• Advocate for needs, rights, and access to services.
