Job summary

Southland Health & Rehab is seeking a diligent kitchen/dietary assistant to prepare meals for the elderly according to dietician-approved menus. You will operate standard kitchen equipment, maintain cleanliness, and help ensure meals are served on time with proper portion control.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and teamwork in a non-profit, mission-driven environment. Prior food service experience and ability to follow recipes are valued.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Strong communication and friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Ability to operate basic computer applications (Outlook/Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals per menu created by dieticians.
• Operates kitchen equipment (mixer, slicer, oven, steamer).
• Cleans surfaces and stores unused food.
• Assists in serving meals and accommodates special diets.
• Records temperatures and follows infection control policies.
