• Must understand English and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Minimum of 1 year in a similar position; retirement living or home-care background preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, rotating shifts, and overtime.
• Culinary education strongly preferred.
• Certified in safe food handling.

Responsibilities

• Attends daily production meetings, tastings, and menu classes to understand upcoming meal requirements.
• Prepares hot and cold items for residents and guests according to menus and recipes; accommodates modified diets.
• Prepares food for transportation to dining areas following safe handling practices.
• Instructs servers on proper handling, storage, portioning, plating, and serving.
• Labels and stores bulk food and supplies; ensures ready-to-eat items are kept safely.
• Assists in monthly inventory of food and supplies.
• Maintains a clean, orderly work area; performs closing and cleaning tasks; supports misc. duties.
• Attends in-service training to stay current on nutrition and safety standards.
• Participates in additional professional development activities as required.
