Job summary

The Alden Network in Chicago is seeking a dedicated nursing assistant to provide daily nursing care to residents in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, policies, and as directed by nursing leadership to ensure the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, documenting care, participating in care planning, and maintaining a safe, compassionate, and clean environment for residents and families alike.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a nursing arts course with diploma/certificate or approved nursing program verification.
• Be at least 16 years old, of temperate habits and good moral character.
• Provide evidence of employment/residence for two years prior to employment as a nursing assistant.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR certificate current or to be obtained within two weeks of employment.
• Interest/knowledge in caring for ill, disabled, and elderly; ability to interact tactfully.
• Read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Able to make independent decisions when needed; work well with others.
• Personable, enthusiastic, and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure nursing procedures and policies are followed with appropriate dress code.
• Assist residents with daily living activities as directed by staff.
• Participate in care planning and care conferences when invited.
• Report concerns to the Administrator and nurse on duty.
• Make rounds to ensure resident safety and comfort.
• Maintain a warm, supportive environment throughout the department.
• Engage in in-service education and orientation for new staff.
• Assist with equipment/supply needs and inventory for the department.
• Record intake/output and monitor patient nutrition and hydration.
• Assist with transfers, discharges, and packing personal belongings.
