Job summary

Adventist HealthCare’s Shady Grove Medical Center is hiring an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant for the Med Surg unit. You will perform vital signs and ADLs under RN supervision, following a care plan and reporting to the RN.

The role requires Maryland CNA certification, BLS, and strong communication in English, with a focus on safety and patient-centered care. Employment features full-time hours and a 36-hour work week across three 12-hour day shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a CNA or first year Nursing School Program and CNA exam required.
• Maryland CNA license required.
• Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maryland and be on the State Registry.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
• Physical ability to meet job requirements of lifting, bending and turning.
• Experience in acute care clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs and activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Follow the care plan as established and delegated by the RN.
• Receive report from the RN and communicate effectively.
• Contribute to a culture of safety and appropriate use of resources.
• Identify malfunctioning equipment and ensure clean, safe work areas.
