Job summary

The Villages of Indiana is seeking a Caregiver/Medication Manager to provide compassionate support for residents and assist with daily activities, including medication administration and monitoring. This role emphasizes safety, dignity, and teamwork in a senior living environment.

You will bathe, groom, help with mobility, check vital signs and report changes to nursing staff, maintain residents' privacy and dignity, and support admissions, transfers and discharge as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to obtain Medication Manager certification on-site at community if not already certified.
• Previous Healthcare, Geriatrics or experience working with the elderly population preferred.
• Desire to work with geriatric population.
• Training per state requirements.
• Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Bathe and clean, as needed, both male and female residents by bed bath, shower and/or whirlpool.
• Follow medication administration protocols as identified for each individual resident.
• Assist in grooming of both male and female residents (teeth care, hair, nails, makeup, shaving, glasses).
• Make residents’ beds and change linens, keep rooms neat and tidy.
• Answer emergency calls promptly.
• Assist residents with bedpan, urinal, bedside commode or bathroom needs; monitor and change incontinent briefs.
• Record vital signs, heights and weights as requested; report changes to nurse or Executive Director.
• Report skin breakdown or changes in residents’ physical/mental condition to nurse.
• Assist in transport, transfers and ambulation; ensure safety; use lifting devices as needed.
• Support privacy and dignity; follow Resident Bill of Rights.
• Provide and participate in activity programming and care for residents.
• Assist in admissions, transfers and discharge; prep rooms for new arrivals.
• Complete Daily Assignment sheets; follow authorized abbreviations.
• Follow universal precautions and infection control procedures.
• Report accidents, incidents or suspected abuse immediately.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; perform day-to-day housekeeping duties.
• Respond to emergencies and other duties as assigned.
