Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) in Waelder, TX. You will provide essential peer and operational support, supervise patients, monitor safety, and assist with admissions, discharges, and daily activities.

Engage with clinical and operations staff to maintain a calm, therapeutic setting while handling crises with approved de-escalation techniques. This role reports to the Director of Operations and offers a part-time schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age 21 with valid driver's license when driving is assigned.
• Experience in behavioral health or related settings preferred.
• Experience in detoxification/residential care preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.
• Maintain professionalism, empathy and composure in high-stress situations.
• Strong observation, communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior and document observations, reporting concerns promptly.
• Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and follow protocols.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules while maintaining a therapeutic approach.
• Measure vital signs and conduct approved tests as trained.
• Supervise self-administration of medications where allowed.
• Assist admissions, discharges, patient movement and activities as assigned.
• Support patient engagement in treatment programming and daily routines.
• Communicate patient information to supervisors and treatment teams.
• Collaborate with clinical and operations staff to maintain a safe environment.
