Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to provide direct support and supervision within inpatient programs. This role focuses on patient safety, engagement, and helping maintain a structured, recovery‑oriented environment.

The BHT collaborates with clinical and medical staff, observes behaviors, documents accurately, and participates in admissions and daily treatment activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent or higher.
• Active addiction related certification is strongly preferred.
• For roles that require driving: not required unless specified.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or mental health settings preferred.
• Experience in detoxification/residential care preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior and environmental conditions; document observations and report concerns.
• Respond to crisis situations using de‑escalation techniques and follow emergency protocols.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules while maintaining a therapeutic approach.
• Support admissions, discharges, patient movement, and daily milieu activities.
• Communicate patient information to supervisors and treatment team for coordinated care.
• Assist with patient transportation when needed and uphold safety rules.
