As a Commuter Rail Technician Helper, your responsibilities include:

1. Performing preventive maintenance and inspections.
2. Assisting skilled employees with running and heavy repairs of FrontRunner locomotives, cab, and coach systems, including doors, HVAC, couplers, amenities, communications, air brakes, cab controls, electrical, and diesel engines.

Pay Rate: $26.52 - $30.52 per hour plus shift differential of $1.00 to $1.50, depending on shift. This role offers a four-year wage progression.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of mechanical work experience and/or 1 year of technical training.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, inspection, and repair techniques.
• Understanding of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic systems.
• Ability to pass the MET and hands-on tests administered by UTA.
• Basic computer skills, including Outlook.
• Ability to work safely on energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 600 VDC.
• Ability to acquire and maintain QMP certification and other required certifications.
• Must provide required tools upon hire and acquire additional tools during probation.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and via radio.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical card and a valid Utah driver’s license.
• Clean driving record with no recent DUIs or excessive violations.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, walking, working in various weather conditions, and working at heights.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
