Job summary

City of Hampton seeks a Support Services Aide to help residents access vital financial and social services. You will support delivery teams with direct customer service, case processing, and community outreach to ensure families receive needed support.

Responsibilities include processing energy assistance and child care cases, helping applicants complete forms, maintaining caseloads, making referrals, and conducting home visits; bilingual candidates are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or successful completion of a GED and two years college-level coursework in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Three (3) years in providing direct customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process energy assistance and child care cases, including interviewing applicants and determining eligibility.
• Assist clients with completing applications and verifying documentation.
• Maintain an active caseload and conduct eligibility re-determinations.
• Provide referrals, answer questions, and respond to emergency calls.
• Conduct home visits to assess client needs and connect them with community resources.
• Enter and manage case data in computerized systems.
• Monitor Adult Services Unit payments and documentation.
• Assign screenings and adult protective services cases.
• Provide guidance and technical support to the support staff.
