Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. seeks a Community Services Advocate to deliver direct support and advocacy under the CSBG program. The role involves connecting low-income individuals with housing, healthcare, and food resources, and coordinating referrals for continued assistance.

You will work in office and community settings, document client progress, and ensure program guidelines are followed while fostering collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in social services, case management, or community outreach preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if applicable).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to keep accurate records.

HELP New Mexico's Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is designed to assist limited-income individuals on their journeys to achieve the higher education and employment goals. This happens through an individualized array of supportive services and emergency assistance, so families will have their needs met while education and/or job training is ongoing.

This will be an office based position along with work out in the community.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
  • You will work under the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program to provide direct support and advocacy services to low-income individuals and families.connect with essential services like housing, healthcare, and food assistance.
  • You will foster a supportive environment that strengthens individuals and communities through education, outreach, and resource coordination.
  • You will track client progress, managing service plans, and following up to ensure clients receive the support they need.
WHO YOU ARE:
  • You are compassionate and responsive and able to provide immediate support to clients in urgent or emergency situations, like homelessness or financial instability.
  • You are collaborative and able to connect clients with local community resources and ensuring they receive proper referrals for continued assistance offering guidance, and helping them overcome barriers to achieve self-sufficiency.
  • You are organized and detail-oriented for keeping accurate records of client information and services provided and ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
  • You are a team player and can work with other staff members, community partners, and organizations to support clients.
Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
Education /Background:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Social Work, Human Services, etc.) preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in social services, case management, or community outreach preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with low-income individuals or families is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (if applicable)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong time management skills to meet established deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate records
  • Experience using case management software is helpful but not required
