Job summary

South Lyon Area Recreation Authority seeks a Recreation Coordinator to plan and execute community enrichment programs, day camps and special events. You will manage budgets, coordinate staff and volunteers, secure supplies, promote programs, and provide outstanding customer service while maintaining records and ensuring safety policies are followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Parks and Recreation, Event Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
• Michigan Driver’s License and CPR & First Aid certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates enrichment programs, day camp and special events.
• Develops budgets, secures supplies, coordinates staff, and processes payments.
• Performs outreach to obtain sponsorships and fundraising.
• Directs staff and volunteers; trains and ensures safety policies.
• Responds to inquiries and maintains public relations.
• Promotes SLARA and creates marketing materials; manages social media.
• Maintains departmental records and provides administrative support.
• Attends programs/events on weekends or evenings as required.
