Job summary

City of Springfield Human Resources is seeking a part-time recreation staffer to lead and staff community center programs, open gym, evening recreation, and summer enrichment activities. Under supervision, you will develop and run city-wide programming and support seasonal events.

The role includes coordinating volunteers, scheduling facility use, evaluating programs, and reporting on activities. Previous recreation experience is preferred; strong organizational and interpersonal skills are

Qualifications

• Experience in planning, organizing, and supervising special event and seasonal programs preferred.
• Work experience in recreation or related field preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills recommended.

Responsibilities

• Plans and develops city-wide recreational programs including operating a community center, open-gym, and evening recreation programs.
• Organizes and coordinates special recreational events city-wide, including summer programs.
• Instructs volunteer and neighborhood groups assisting in these programs.
• Evaluates programs, recommends improvements, requisitions equipment and supplies, and schedules facility use.
• Performs related work as required.
