Job summary

Navy Region Northwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks a Recreation Assistant to support MWR programs at NAS Whidbey Island. You will assist front desk operations, handle sales and rentals, and help plan and promote community events.

The role requires valid driving privileges, strong customer service, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays. Training to obtain CPR/First Aid and food handler certification is provided after hire.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently.
• Experience handling cash and operating a cash register.
• Ability to organize, plan and administer special events and entertainment activities.
• Knowledge of leisure-time activities and Navy MWR mission for community recreation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public with courtesy.
• Cash handling with accurate record-keeping; ability to use a cash register.
• Schedule may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in support of Morale, Welfare and Recreation Community Recreation programs, including special events, trips, promotions and rentals.
• Provide front counter customer service and handle sales via point of sale systems; resolve questions and concerns.
• Conduct and maintain inventories of equipment and rental supplies for accountability.
• Assist with entertainment and promotion scheduling and program support.
• Issue game equipment and assist with bowling and other recreation activities.
• Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van and operate a POS system; perform related duties.
