Responsibilities

  • Facilitates communication with neighborhood organizations to identify and prioritize community issues, concerns, and needs.
  • Develops and plans programming designed to deter criminal activity in the City of Chesapeake.
  • Distributes materials and information to citizens addressing specific concerns, encouraging community involvement in information sharing, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Utilizes intelligence information gathered from the community to assist in prosecution.
  • Plans conferences for over 200 attendees and other events.
  • Develops on-going community outreach strategy for the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
  • Duties include soliciting contributions for programs, participating in office, City and community sponsored events during evenings and Saturdays.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Job Description

Works in conjunction with attorneys assigned to the Community Prosecution team in the execution of the program’s goals. Responsible for facilitating communication with neighborhood organizations to identify and prioritize community issues, concerns, and needs.

Develops and plans programming designed to deter criminal activity in the City of Chesapeake. Distributes materials and information to citizens addressing specific concerns, encouraging community involvement in information sharing, and other tasks as assigned. Utilizes intelligence information gathered from the community to assist in prosecution. Plans conferences for over 200 attendees and other events. Develops on-going community outreach strategy for the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Duties include soliciting contributions for programs, participating in office, City and community sponsored events during evenings and Saturdays. Additional duties may be assigned by the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

This is a part-time grant position which offers no City benefits.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in bookkeeping, professional communications, marketing, event planning, or other closely related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior work or volunteer experience demonstrating organizational, creative and public speaking skills.
