Position Title: Community Membership Manager (CMM)
Reports To: Director of Membership
FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt
Classification: Senior Professional
Location: Grand Rapids Service Center, Muskegon Service Center, Traverse City Service Center
Grade: 4

Position Summary:

The Community Membership Manager communicates to parents and girls about joining our organization and helps identify new volunteers who want to bring Girl Scouts to their local communities. This position plays a key role in selling and securing new girl and adult memberships by actively promoting the value of the Girl Scout experience. The right candidate is an outgoing, self-motivated, goal-oriented team player who likes to provide strategic solutions, tell the story of Girl Scouting via presentations, and network with community organizations, corporations, schools, educators, faith-based institutions, and other community constituents. This individual will attend and host events across a designated territory and is responsible for achieving membership growth targets by converting leads into members and volunteers. The role has a direct impact on the overall fiscal success of Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore (GSMISTS) by expanding our reach and bringing the Girl Scout experience to more girls and adults across their territory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Securing and increasing membership of girls and adults for GSMISTS in the designated territory.
  2. Meet and exceed recruitment goals by developing effective customer service and recruitment strategies through organization, effectiveness, persistence, and exceptional time management.
  3. Identify and seek new member prospects.
  4. Establish, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with organizations and leaders to secure opportunities.
  5. Promptly follow up on leads and referrals.
  6. Coordinate and schedule meetings to meet with prospective members in a variety of settings and venues; prepare and present information to audiences intended to increase awareness, interest, and membership in GSMISTS.
  7. Work with all council departments to ensure new member council goals are met; collaborate with regional teams to ensure effective delivery of recruitment strategies and new member placement.
  8. May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and practical communication skills.
  • Experience in recruiting volunteers, sales, recruitment, or account management preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 recruitment events per week; extensive travel within the designated territory.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; comfortable communicating with adults and girls.
  • Bilingual, Spanish speaking, highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and customer relationship management systems; comfortable with electronic media and internet use.
  • Experience or knowledge of public speaking, volunteer recruitment, working with youth, and facilitating Girl Scout programming; STEM programming experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with volunteers and community contacts from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce results.
