Job description

Position: Business Membership Sales Lead
Part-Time | Remote-Friendly | Commission-Based

The Aspen Daily News — the only independently owned daily newspaper in the Roaring Fork Valley — is looking for a motivated, mission-driven sales lead to launch and lead our Business Membership program.

This is not your typical sales role. We’re not selling ad space (well, yes, we do that, too) — but with this program, we’re building a movement of local businesses investing in the future of fearless, local journalism. You’ll be the dedicated point person for cultivating relationships with community-minded businesses across the valley who want to align themselves with a trusted, transparent and tenacious news organization.

What You’ll Do:

– Serve as the primary contact for business membership sales and onboarding
– Engage with businesses through email, phone, and in-person outreach (especially in Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood and beyond)
– Communicate the value of supporting ADN’s mission through membership — this is especially useful for businesses that don’t partake in traditional advertising
– Customize pitches based on the goals, values, and community footprint of each potential member
– Manage outreach in our business member database and keep accurate records of contacts and conversions
– Coordinate with ADN leadership for special thank-you moments, promotional shoutouts and onboarding materials
– Help refine and scale the business membership program as it grows

– A self-driven attitude — you’ll manage your own schedule and goals
– A sincere passion for community, local journalism and empowering small businesses
– Experience in consultative or mission-based sales a plus

Compensation:

This is a commission-only position, but one with high upside. We offer 35% commission on each new business membership sold, with first-year memberships priced at $750.

That means you earn $262.50 per sale, with no cap on commissions.
