Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas is seeking a PRP Community Living Counselor in Jessup, MD to conduct community support activities and assist consumers in achieving recovery goals through an individualized plan. Approximately 90% of duties occur in the community or consumer settings.

You will work with adults in a day-shift role, developing coping skills, coordinating referrals, and ensuring documentation aligns with MHRS/VOAC standards. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with 2 years of higher education or 3 years in a relevant human services field.
• At least 1 year of related human service activities/experience.
• Experience in community-based and multicultural settings preferred.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Bilingual in any language a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of approximately 40 adults.
• Assist consumers in developing interpersonal and community coping skills.
• Assist in relapse and symptom management planning.
• Participate in preparing the Individualized Service Plan with measurable objectives.
• Provide and coordinate referrals for consumer needs.
• Conduct visits to job sites, homes, or other settings.
• Transport consumers as needed.
• Document billable activities per MHRS/VOAC standards.
• Meet weekly with Treatment Team; submit progress notes weekly.
• Maintain community resources and referral index.
