Job summary

The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Marquette, MI is seeking a Kitchen/Food Service Assistant to prepare and serve nutritious meals for community programs while maintaining a safe, sanitary kitchen and dining area.

Responsibilities include inventory, cleaning, donor and program support, and supervising volunteers under ServSafe guidelines. Compensation is $15.43-$19.29 per hour for full-time roles with benefits.

Qualifications

• One year experience in food services, institutional cooking or related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current ServSafe Certification required, or must obtain within six months of employment.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license with clearance by Salvation Army’s insurance carrier preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for community and program participants.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining area.
• Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and equipment; manage waste.
• Inventory and storage duties; rotate stock and label products.
• Provide courteous donor and program support; assist with receipts and records.
• Supervise and guide kitchen/dining volunteers; collaborate with team.
