Job summary

The Salvation Army in Wisconsin seeks a Kitchen Assistant to prepare nutritious meals for children in our Child Care Center. You will plan menus, prepare lunches and snacks, and ensure sanitation and CACFP compliance.

This role requires a high school diploma, willingness to obtain ServSafe and CPR/First Aid within specified timeframes, and a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Flexible schedules and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications: ServSafe or sanitation certification; CPR and First Aid within set timeframes.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with insurance clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus for snacks and lunches for enrolled children, per CACFP guidelines.
• Estimate food quantities based on number of children and servings.
• Acquire necessary food items and supplies.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of utensils and dishes.
• Maintain sanitation and health standards per CACFP and state/local laws.
• Prepare lunches and snacks for children and adults.
• Serve lunches and set up snack carts.
• Maintain records: daily expenditures, monthly menus, production records, participation counts, and household statements.
• Coordinate kitchen use with Worship and Community Center.
• Participate in staff training and in-service activities.

Commercial kitchen experience
