Job summary

The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare meals for participants and staff in a commercial kitchen and assist with meal planning.

Responsibilities include cooking following health codes, serving meals, and supporting special events. Applicants should have a high school diploma, at least one year of experience, and be able to pass background checks. This role requires English communication and in-person work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of relevant experience required.
• Must pass background checks.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of food service, nutritional guidelines, and best practices.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, scrubbing, food preparation, and cooking.
• Ability to use PC and standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cook, prepare, and store a variety of food using standardized safe food handling guidelines and meeting health code.
• Meet special dietary needs of participants as directed (55%).
• Provide meal service (breakfast, lunch, dinner) in an inviting manner to participants and staff (15%).
• Clean and sanitize food service utensils, dishes, cookware, serveware, equipment, and areas (10%).
• Assist with meal planning utilizing ordered and donated food items, minimizing food waste (10%).
• Assist with meal preparation and cooking for special events and meetings (10%).
