Alpha Project for the Homeless is seeking a Kitchen Helper in San Diego to support daily kitchen operations, assist with meal preparation, manage food donations, and maintain a clean, safe work environment under the Kitchen Operations Director and Head Chef. The role emphasizes proper food handling, sanitation, and teamwork to ensure timely, nutritious meals for program participants and the community.

Qualifications

• Candidate must follow policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Experience in kitchen/food service and knowledge of sanitation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, document, and sort food donations.
• Organize, restock, rotate, and label pantry items; assist with inventory.
• Prepare salads, sides, and assist with main entrées; support meal production.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow safety procedures; operate dishwashing equipment.
• Complete temperature and waste logs; ensure proper storage and compliance.
