Job summary

The Salvation Army in Redlands, CA is seeking a Full-Time Kitchen Assistant to prepare and serve meals for residents and program participants in a compliant, safe commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities include menu support, ordering and receiving supplies, inventory control, maintaining equipment, and training volunteers. Must have a Food Handler's Card, high school diploma or GED, and at least 1 year in a commercial kitchen; a California driver’s license is required. CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Possess a current Food Handlers Card or be willing to complete certification upon hire.
• Completion of a High School Level Education or GED.
• Minimum of one year in a commercial kitchen or food service.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for residents and participants.
• Maintain a commercial kitchen adhering to health regulations.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
• Assist with 30-day menu development.
• Order and receive supplies from donors and vendors.
• Regularly inventory all food service and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure proper storage and quality of food items.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas.
• Organize and train volunteers supporting meals or events.
• Coordinate pick-up/deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
