Job summary

EMC Insurance is offering a summer full-time paid internship in the Marketing & Communications department. You will work alongside the Community Involvement Manager and Coordinator to support events, volunteer programs, and the annual workplace giving campaign.

Ideal candidates are majoring in Communications or Public Relations, have completed at least junior year, and maintain a 3.0+ GPA. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and MS Office proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a communications, PR or related degree.
• Completion of junior year is required.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, coursework included.
• Experience coordinating large projects or events preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist with EMC-sponsored community events, coordinating with partners.
• Draft communications and secure event materials for events.
• Maintain volunteer opportunities list and promote VTO benefits.
• Support annual workplace giving campaigns with planning and communications.
• Assist Marketing & Communications with project coordination, copywriting and proofreading.

What to Expect:

Our team plans to begin interviewing candidates on October 1. Applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed throughout the recruiting process, though interested students are encouraged to apply early for consideration.

Essential Functions:

• Summer full-time paid internship working alongside the Community Involvement Manager and Community Involvement Coordinator within the Marketing & Communications department
• Assists with EMC-sponsored community events as needed, including coordinating details with partner organizations, drafting communications, securing event materials, etc.
• Maintains current list of volunteer opportunities for EMC team members, coordinates group volunteer activities as needed and drafts communications to promote Volunteer Time Off (VTO) benefit
• Supports EMC’s annual Community workplace giving campaign by collaborating with the Community committee to plan and execute engaging virtual and in-person activities, and developing a comprehensive communications plan
• Supports the larger Marketing & Communications department by performing other work as assigned, including project coordination, copywriting and proofreading

Education & Experience:

• Major in Communications, Public Relations or related field
• Completion of junior year
• Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
• Related course work required
• Experience coordinating large projects or events preferred
