Job summary

Easterseals NJ is hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with disabilities in community, residential, and facility settings in Northfield, NJ. You will support daily living activities, implement ISPs, transport clients using the company van, and build positive relationships with participants and external partners.

We seek applicants 18+, high school diploma or GED, with at least 6 months of direct care experience preferred, valid driver's license, and strong communication

About Us and Our Program:

Since 1948, Easterseals New Jersey has worked to meet the continuously growing needs of people with disabilities and their families. Its community inclusion services provide a place outside the home for adults of all ages and with all types of disabilities to be active in the community, socialize with their peers, and receive needed health and caregiving services. In addition, these valuable programs offer respite, support, and education for family members and other caregivers.

What You’ll Do:

The Direct Support Professional provides high-quality support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by fostering strong relationships in community settings.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) including but not limited to, feeding, toileting, assistance with hygiene, monitoring and/or administering medications and all areas of adult daily living skills.
• Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) for daily living, transportation, medication and more.
• Transports consumers within the community using the company van.
• Deliver high-quality services in community, residential, and facility settings.
• Build strong relationships with consumers and external stakeholders.

Who You Are:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education:High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Experience:At least 6 months of previous experience in direct care or related field preferred.
• Requirements:Possess a valid driver’s license & clean driving record.
• Skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
