Job summary

Easterseals NJ in Bridgewater, NJ is seeking a part-time Residential Counselor to support group home residents with daily living activities and IRP-driven goals.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, coordinating services, transporting consumers in the company van, and documenting care in electronic health records. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required, with strong communication skills and driving as an essential function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mental health, psychology, sociology, or social work from an accredited college/university or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Experience or coursework in related human services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents in achieving daily living goals and improve independence.
• Educate residents on medications, maintain logs, and conduct monthly audits.
• Coordinate individual services based on IRP; transport residents using the company van when needed.
• Document services accurately in electronic health records within required timeframes.
• Deliver high-quality care aligned with IRP and consumer outcomes.

Since 1948, Easterseals New Jersey has worked to meet the continuously growing needs of people with disabilities and their families. Its services for individuals with mental health conditions provide daily living support and community-based programs that teach valuable life skills through instruction and real-world experiences.

What You'll Do:

The Residential Counselor supports the group home residents with daily living activities and delivers high quality services that will help consumers achieve measurable outcomes in accordance with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).

Key responsibilities include:

• Support consumers in achieving personal care goals and addressing ongoing challenges.
• Educate consumers on medications, track logs, and conduct monthly audits.
• Coordinate services based on individual needs.
• Transports consumers using the company van as needed.
• Deliver high-quality care in line with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).
• Accurately document services within required timeframes using electronic health records.

Who You Are:

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mental health, psychology, sociology, or social work, human services or a related field from an accredited college or universityOR
  • A combination of one (1) or more years’ of college, plus related life or work experience equal tofour(4) yearsOR
  • High school diploma or GED plusfour(4) years of related work or life experiencerequired.
• Skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• This role requires driving as an essential function. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be subject to post-offer verification of driving eligibility consistent with company insurance requirements.
