Job summary

Catholic Social Services (CSS) is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist in Columbus, OH. The role focuses on developing and managing community volunteer opportunities across CSS programs and coordinating events with partner organizations.

Ideal candidates have three years in community engagement, experience with event software, and strong communication skills. The position supports a 37.5-hour work week with benefits and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and state minimum car insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with logistics and coordination of group-based client activities and special projects.
• Receive, organize, and order event items for scheduled events.
• Coordinate with engagement partners to develop community events.
• Collaborate with Programs to recruit volunteers and increase engagement.
• Represent the agency at outreach events.
• Lead and grow volunteer opportunities across CSS programs.

Assist in the development and management of strategies to provide volunteer opportunities in the community. Recruit, retain and lead the growth of volunteerism throughout all programs within Catholic Social Services by conducting orientations, schedules, and coordinate volunteers for events.

Engagement activities:

• Assists with logistics and coordination of group-based client activities, and special projects.
• Responsible for receiving, organizing, and ordering event items scheduled events.
• Coordinate with community engagement partners, to maintain and develop community events.
• Collaborate with Programs to assist with volunteer recruitment to increase engagement.
• Represents the agency at outreach events.

Education and Experience:

• Three (3) years, experience in Community Engagement, preferred.
• Experience with event management software (i.e., Signup Genius, Eventbrite, etc.), preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid Ohio driver's license and state minimum car insurance coverage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently.
• Typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.
• In the community, as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• A flexible work schedule, as needed, for events, i.e., evenings and weekends.
