Job summary

Fond du Lac County Human Services seeks a part-time crisis intervention specialist to respond to crisis calls and assess needs of individuals and families in the community. You will interview clients, develop safety plans, and coordinate referrals to appropriate services, including crisis therapy when indicated.

The role involves collaboration with law enforcement, schools, and other agencies, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely information for supervision and case planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
• Exceptional telephone and communication skills are essential when working with the public.
• Ability to think critically and problem-solve while completing assessments and developing safety plans.
• Basic computer skills required for documentation.
• Knowledge of community resources, mental illness, emotional disorders, alcohol/drug abuse, and risk assessment related to dangers to self or others, suicide, or homicide.
• Ability to work effectively with a treatment team and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to complete orientation training within six months of hire.
• Able to fulfill physical, sensory, and cognitive demands.

Responsibilities

• Receives crisis calls for Fond du Lac County Human Services crisis intervention program.
• Interviews clients and families to obtain mental health and/or substance use information and assesses needs.
• Develops crisis plans utilizing strengths of the individual/family and available resources.
• Assesses appropriate level of care and arranges referrals.
• Provides direct telephone and mobile crisis intervention services to children, adolescents, adults, and families.
• Collaborates with law enforcement, other County Departments, schools, and community resources for crisis resolution and referrals.
• Maintains timely and pertinent information and participates in supervision, staffings, and case planning meetings.
• Completes health care/medical and financial record documentation and coordinates with staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to emergencies.
