Job summary

The La Crosse County Department of Human Services is seeking a dedicated Crisis Response Specialist to respond to adults, adolescents, and children experiencing mental health crises in La Crosse County. This role involves on-call, on-site and remote work, collaboration with law enforcement and healthcare partners, and rapid assessment to support safety and stabilization.

Wisconsin Certified Crisis Program training is provided at onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling required.
• Experience with mental health crises preferred.
• Wisconsin Certified Crisis Program training provided on onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Responds by phone and in-person to evaluate mental health crises.
• Collaborates with law enforcement, hospital staff and other professionals.
• Provides on-call crisis coverage evenings, weekends, and overnights.
• Uses electronic health records for data entry.
• Completes up to 40 hours of initial training within 90 days.
