Job summary

City of Woodburn seeks a Community Center & Events Manager to oversee daily operations for the Mill Creek Community Center project, a 17,000-square-foot expansion set to open in 2027. The role covers budgeting, program pricing, event rentals, and contractor coordination to ensure a high-quality community facility.

Responsibilities include developing onboarding processes, collaboration with HR and legal, and marketing to boost memberships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Recreation Management, Public Administration or related field; three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in recreation program management, community center operations, or events management with supervisory experience.
• Strong financial management and budgeting skills; certification in Recreation Management or related credential; experience with aquatics or community center facility management; grant writing and alternative revenue development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with certifications required for the position.
• Develop the pricing structure for community center programs and memberships.
• Evaluate and secure agreements for fitness reimbursement programs (e.g., Silver & Fit, Silver Sneakers).
• Collaborate with City HR Department to create a comprehensive hiring strategy.
• Work with Community Services Director to establish onboarding and an employee handbook for Mill Creek Community Center.
• Evaluate and draft rental and usage agreements for memberships and event rentals in consultation with the City Attorney's Office.
• Create maintenance plans for daily, weekly, and monthly services of the Mill Creek Community Center.
• Organize and procure maintenance and service contracts for the Community Center within budget constraints.
• Develop and implement a marketing plan to attract new memberships and engage the community.
