Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory seeks a Peer Specialist to provide direct peer support, contribute to team planning, and assist with outreach and transitional care in community settings. Qualifications

  • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to engage with clients empathetically.
  • Experience working with shelter residents or in community settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the clinical team and provide input as needed.
  • Engage each client on the team and offer guidance.
  • Spend time with clients during meals and recreation times.
  • Escort clients to appointments and essential errands (e.g., HRA, Social Security, bank).
  • Assist clients with job interviews and housing trips to secure permanent housing.
  • Attend community meetings as assigned.
  • Provide feedback to the clinical team to improve service delivery.
